BARBOURVILLE, KY- The Royals put together a complete day at the plate and in the circle on Wednesday, sweeping AAC opponent Union Commonwealth in dominant fashion.
Johnson opened the day with a strong 9-2 victory, using consistent offense and clean defense to set the tone early. The Royals tallied 12 hits in game one, highlighted by home runs from Megan Armstrong and Dylan Jablonski. Jablonski led the way with three RBIs, while Armstrong added two of her own. Reese Burns, Audrey Moorhouse, and Kadie Presley each contributed RBIs as part of a balanced offensive attack.
In the circle, Madisun Pritchard earned the win with four shutout innings, allowing just two hits, while Alyssa Nicely closed the game to secure the victory. The Royals also applied pressure on the basepaths, swiping multiple bags and forcing Union Commonwealth into defensive mistakes.
Game two proved to be a much more chaotic, high-scoring battle, but Johnson once again came out on top, 12-9, to complete the sweep. The Royals jumped out to a fast start, plating five runs in the opening inning and never fully relinquishing control despite multiple pushes from Union Commonwealth.
Aly Dickerson delivered a huge performance, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, while Dylan Jablonski drove in three more runs. Caitlyn Brown added two RBIs, and Adelaide Hubbard and Megan Armstrong continued their productive days at the plate. Johnson finished with 13 hits in the second game, recording multiple extra-base hits to fuel the offense.
Taylor Minnick earned the win in the circle, working four innings and allowing just one earned run, while Lindy Webber came in to close things out. Despite a late rally from Union Commonwealth, the Royals responded with a four-run seventh inning to create separation and secure the sweep.
Head coach Dayna Carter praised her team's consistency throughout the day.
"Proud of the girls for battling the whole day. We never took our foot off the gas and that's something we have really stressed because we tend to start the second game slow. Great offensive day all around."
With the sweep, the Royals continue to build momentum in AAC play, showing both offensive firepower and resilience across both games.
