Lady Royals Fall on the Road at Tennessee Wesleyan
The Lady Royals basketball put together a strong second half but couldn't overcome a slow start in an 85–75 road loss to Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday night. The Lady Royals outscored TWU 49–39 over the final two quarters but were unable to erase a 20-point halftime deficit.
Jordan Heifner led Johnson with 17 points, knocking down two threes and adding four steals. Megan Biliter posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Emery Tollett tallied 12 points, nine boards, and a team-high five assists. Shamiya Francis added 9 points and 12 rebounds, and Jadyn Cooper provided a big lift off the bench with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
Johnson dominated the glass with a 48–40 rebounding advantage and produced 17 assists on 28 made field goals. The Lady Royals also finished strong offensively, scoring 29 points in the fourth quarter, their highest-scoring period of the night.
Tennessee Wesleyan was powered by Sloan Carpenter's 18-point, 12-rebound performance and four double-figure scorers overall. TWU capitalized at the free-throw line, going 27-of-40 compared to Johnson's 12-of-17.
With the loss, the Lady Royals move to 3–5 on the season and 2–2 in AAC play. They head back on the road, traveling to Alabama Huntsville for a non-conference matchup on November 29.
