Lady Royals Take Control After Halftime in Win Over Bears
The Lady Royals used a strong second half to pull away from Truett McConnell on Saturday afternoon, earning a 75–53 victory at home.
The game was tight early, with Truett McConnell holding a narrow 15–13 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Royals responded in the second period, outscoring the Bears 21–10 to take a 34–25 advantage into halftime.
Johnson continued to build momentum after the break and put the game away in the fourth quarter, scoring 28 points in the final period to secure the 22-point win.
Gibson Boykin led the Lady Royals offensively with 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while Reese Fritz added 12 points. Emery Tollett contributed 11 points and a team-high seven assists, helping guide an offense that finished with 15 assists as a team. Megan Biliter also made a big impact on the glass, pulling down 14 rebounds to help Johnson control the boards.
Johnson's depth played a key role, with multiple players contributing scoring and defensive pressure, including 10 team steals and strong rebounding that limited second-chance opportunities for the Bears.
The Lady Royals will return to action on February 11 as they travel to Columbia for their next matchup.
