Lady Royals Fall to Reinhardt in AAC Tournament Semifinals
The Lady Royals' postseason run came to a close Thursday night as Johnson fell to Reinhardt 56–46 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament semifinal round in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Johnson battled evenly with one of the conference's top teams throughout the first half. The Lady Royals trailed just 16–15 after the opening quarter, and strong defensive play on both sides led to a 24–24 tie heading into halftime after Reinhardt managed only nine points in the second period.
Reinhardt created separation in the third quarter, using a 20–9 run to take control of the contest. Despite continued defensive effort and a late push in the fourth quarter, the Lady Royals were unable to close the gap down the stretch.
Megan Biliter paced Johnson with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Olivia Bolduc added 12 points and three assists. Emery Tollett recorded six points and six rebounds, and Hailey Brooks contributed five points and five boards in the semifinal matchup.
Johnson held a strong advantage on the glass, outrebounding Reinhardt 46–32 and collecting 16 offensive rebounds, but shooting struggles limited the Lady Royals offensively as they finished at 29.6 percent from the field.
With the result, the Lady Royals conclude their season following an appearance in the AAC Tournament semifinals.
